Waiting.

For the deer in our yard a few weeks ago, waiting is simply huddling next to the garden.  Possibly anticipating the tiny green shoots finally making their appearance?  And they now have!  Waiting is often thought of as a passive activity – a delay.  But waiting can also be a pause.  An opportunity to take in the moment or allow my mind go on an excursion.  Waiting implies focus on a future time.  Looking forward and planning is often necessary and good.  Waiting can sometimes be a refresher — a reminder not to live so much in the future that I miss the present.
